Microsoft Transforms Former Foxconn Site into $13B Data Centre Campus

15 new data centres planned at the former Foxconn manufacturing site in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.

Microsoft has announced plans for 15 data centres at the former Foxconn manufacturing site in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, representing a $13 billion investment. The transformation of one of America's most controversial economic development projects into a major digital infrastructure hub marks a remarkable chapter in the site's history.

The Mount Pleasant campus will leverage existing utility infrastructure originally built for Foxconn's planned LCD manufacturing facility. Microsoft's investment will create thousands of construction and permanent jobs, finally delivering on the economic development promise that drove the original Foxconn incentive package.

The Wisconsin project is part of Microsoft's broader strategy of acquiring large land parcels in non-traditional data centre markets as the established hubs in Virginia, Dallas, and Phoenix face power and land constraints.
