Saudi Arabia's Data Centre Ambitions: Hexagon Campus and AWS Region

The Kingdom breaks ground on a 480 MW campus in Riyadh while AWS commits $5.3 billion to a three-city region.

Saudi Arabia is rapidly emerging as a major data centre destination, anchored by two landmark developments: the Hexagon Data Center's 480 MW campus in Riyadh and Amazon Web Services' $5.3 billion three-phase region spanning Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam/NEOM.

The Hexagon campus, part of SDAIA's Vision 2030 programme, spans over 30 million square feet and will be one of the world's largest single-campus developments. Meanwhile, Khazna Data Centres has purchased 225,000 square metres in Dammam for up to 200 MW of hyperscale capacity.

Saudi Arabia's competitive advantage lies in some of the world's lowest electricity costs, driven by abundant natural gas, combined with an ambitious government willing to invest heavily in digital infrastructure. The Kingdom's strategic position between Europe, Africa, and Asia makes it an attractive hub for international connectivity.
