Equinix has announced a major expansion of its Slough data centre campus in the western London corridor, committing approximately GBP 800 million to deliver 80 MW of new critical IT capacity. The expansion will include two new data halls designed to meet Tier III+ standards, with construction expected to complete in phases through 2028.
The Slough Trading Estate has long been one of the UK's premier data centre locations, offering excellent connectivity to London's financial district and major internet exchange points. Equinix's expansion comes amid growing demand from enterprise and cloud customers seeking proximity to the London market while benefiting from more favourable power availability compared to inner-London locations.
The new facilities will incorporate Equinix's latest sustainability innovations, including advanced cooling systems targeting a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2 or below, on-site renewable energy generation, and water-free cooling technology. The project is part of Equinix's broader commitment to achieving climate-neutral operations across its global portfolio by 2030.
