Brookfield Infrastructure Partners has completed its landmark acquisition of Global Switch Holdings in a deal valued at approximately $5.4 billion. The transaction secures 340 MW of premium data centre capacity across some of Europe's and Asia-Pacific's most strategically important markets, including London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Sydney, and Hong Kong.
Global Switch has long been regarded as one of the premier carrier-neutral data centre operators, with facilities located in prime urban and suburban locations that serve as critical interconnection hubs. The company's London Docklands facility, in particular, is one of the UK's largest and most connected data centres, hosting major cloud providers, financial institutions, and content delivery networks.
The acquisition positions Brookfield as one of the world's largest data centre investors, with a combined global portfolio exceeding 800 MW. Brookfield has committed to maintaining Global Switch's operational independence and brand, while investing in sustainability upgrades across the portfolio. Plans include retrofitting existing facilities with more efficient cooling systems and securing renewable energy procurement agreements to achieve net-zero operational emissions by 2030.
