Switch has announced a 180 MW expansion of its iconic Las Vegas SuperNAP data centre complex, representing a $520 million investment in one of the world's most recognised data centre campuses. Phase 1 of the expansion, delivering 60 MW of new capacity, is targeting delivery in Q2 2026, with subsequent phases completing through 2028.
The SuperNAP complex has been a pioneer in data centre design and efficiency, featuring Switch's proprietary cooling technology that has consistently achieved industry-leading PUE ratings below 1.2 in the extreme desert climate. The expansion will incorporate the latest generation of Switch's Tier 5 Platinum design, which exceeds traditional Tier IV standards with additional redundancy and security features.
Las Vegas, while traditionally associated with the Phoenix/Southwest data centre market, has carved out a distinct niche as a premium colocation destination, offering competitive power rates through Nevada Energy, no state corporate income tax, and strategic connectivity to both Los Angeles and the broader Western US market. Switch's expansion solidifies Las Vegas's position as a top-tier data centre market and responds to growing demand from AI, gaming, and enterprise customers.
