Microsoft has announced plans for a 100 MW hyperscale data centre campus in Dubai, representing a $900 million investment in the Middle East's largest data centre market. The facility, located in Dubai Silicon Oasis, will serve as the anchor for Microsoft Azure's expanded Middle East presence.
The campus will feature advanced liquid cooling systems designed for Dubai's extreme temperatures and will be powered partially by solar energy from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Microsoft's investment responds to surging demand from UAE government entities, financial services firms, and regional enterprises adopting cloud and AI services.
The announcement positions Dubai as a serious contender for hyperscale investment alongside established markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific, and is expected to catalyse further investment from competing cloud providers.
