Brookfield Infrastructure has acquired a 60 MW data centre portfolio in Marseille for €600 million, securing a strategic position in Europe's most important subsea cable hub. Marseille hosts landing points for 16+ international submarine cables connecting Europe to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
The acquisition includes three facilities with direct connections to major subsea cable systems, making them critical infrastructure for international data traffic. Brookfield's investment thesis centres on Marseille's irreplaceable geographic advantage and the growing demand for interconnection capacity driven by AI workload distribution across continents.
The deal represents Brookfield's continued aggressive expansion into digital infrastructure, following its Global Switch acquisition in 2025.
