Riot Platforms has signed a Data Center Lease and Services Agreement with AMD at its Rockdale, Texas site. The initial deployment covers 25 MW of critical IT load capacity to be delivered in phases through May 2026, with expansion potential to 200 MW total. Riot also completed a fee simple acquisition of 200 acres of land at Rockdale for $96 million.
The deal represents approximately $311 million of contract value across the initial 10-year term for 25 MW, growing to approximately $1 billion if all three five-year extension options are exercised. The transaction marks an unusual entry into data centre hosting by a crypto mining company, leveraging Riot's existing power infrastructure and site for AI workloads.
